Fish of the Month: Archives

Welcome to our
Fishroom

We are slowly putting together information on the fish that are available to us in Queensland. We make all possible attempts to get the information right and, where known, use the latest scientific name for the species discussed.

For information on our plants, see our Plant Fact Sheets and go to our Product section for information on all our dry stock.

On this page, the fish are grouped by type - catfish, cichlid, etc. Please click on the group classification in the table below to take you to the information about that group of fish, including habitat, and the species Fact Files.

You will also be able to find the fish by searching by tank type: freshwater coldwater (including pond); freshwater tropical or brackish water; by country that the species is native to; by tank size (small, medium or large); alphabetically by genus; or alphabetically by common name.

We are slowly building this site and you will notice a lot of information blanks. Please be patient as we are steadily adding more Fact Sheets - so keep visiting us to see what new and interesting information appears next.

To help you use our Fact Sheets, just click on About the Fact Sheet Information to find out about some of the terms we use in our Fact Sheets - such as what we mean by the adult size, availability, hardiness or overall appeal.

***Please note that:
- A
ll availability information relates to the availability of the fish in Queensland.
- We provide the information in the Fact Sheets and on this web site as a service to all fish keepers.
- The fish featured on our website are not always available or in stock.
- We are happy to order in fish, subject to availability (a guide to availability is given in Fact Sheet) and some conditions apply.
- We are able to ship fish to most places in Australia.
- Different States have different noxious fish lists and different rules so you need to check first).***

Please contact us on 07 3823 1866 and any one of our friendly staff will give you the right advice on your fish or tank related matters.
